Q. Do I need a torch when diving the ex-HMAS BRISBANE

R. Holes have been cut in the ship, which normally allows plently of light to enter. When swimming inside, a torch is highly recommended to enhance your diving experience.

Q. Do I need to wear gloves when diving the ex-HMAS BRISBANE?

R. Gloves are highly recommended, as the surface of the ship is covered with barnacles and oysters.

Q. What safety items do I need?

R. Queensland's diving code of practice requires divers to carry their own whistle and safety sausage.

Q. Is the dive weather dependant?

R. Yes, the ex-HMAS BRISBANE is in open sea conditions. There is no protection from surrounding islands & reefs.Always phone Scuba World at 4pm the day prior to your dive to check the weather.

Q. What is the maximum depth of the dive?

R. The main deck of the ship is 20m and the ship sits on the sand in 27m.

Q. I have not dived for a while, will I be able to dive the wreck?

R. You wil need to complete a refresher course (1 hour) before you dive the wreck if:

You have not dived within the last year and have done less than 12 dives
You have not dived within the last 1-2 years and have done less than 24 dives
You have not dived within the last 2 years and have done less than 50 dives

If you have completed 50 dives or more but have not dived for 2 or more years please phone us for advice

N.B. If in doubt always complete a refresher course. It will add to your diving comfort and safety

Q. Do I need to have my wreck specialty to dive the ex-HMAS BRISBANE?

R. No, you only need to be an Open Water Diver.

Q. Do I need to have my wreck specialty to swim inside the wreck?

R. An experienced dive guide is always available to escort divers inside the ship *conditions apply. The only time wreck certification is required is if there is the likely hood of becoming light locked while inside.

Q. I am interested in obtaining my Wreck Specialty on the ex-HMAS BRISBANE, what is involved?

R. Scuba World run the SSI Wreck Specialty Course. Cost is $350 and includes, 2 dives, tanks and weights, Wreck diving manual, and certification card. Contact Scuba World for more information or to book.

R. You can phone (07) 5444 8595 to book.

Q. Can I purchase an ex-HMAS BRISBANE gift voucher?

R. Yes, you sure can!! The advantage of a gift voucher is that you don't need to decide on a date. The voucher will be valid for 3 months from date of issue.

Q. How far in advance do I need to book the ex-HMAS BRISBANE dive?

R. Generally 1-2 days in advance for dives during the week. 2-5 days in advance for weekends, and 1-2 weeks in advance during holiday periods.
N.B. It's possible a large group may have already booked the whole day.

Q. Are there storage rooms for my dive gear?

R. Change rooms, personal storage areas and shower facilities are available.

Q. Is there parking available?

R. Yes, plently of FREE parking is available.

R. Our dive vessel departs from The Wharf marina - directly outside our dive centre and right next door to Under Water World.
