Shark Dives FAQsQ. What are the prerequisites? R. You need to be "at home" in the water. You need to be medically fit. A medical declaration and an indemnity form must be signed. Q. Are there any restrictions on diving with the sharks? R. Maximum waist measurement of 48 inches or 122cm and minimum age is 14 years (Parental consent required for anyone under 18 years of age). Q. Is it possible to do the shark dive if I cannot swim? R. Yes, it is possible for you to do the shark dive. There is no swimming involved during the shark dive experience. Q. Is the Shark Dive Safe? R. The sharks are the most docile in the ocean. We have taken 15,000 people in the shark tank over the past 15 years and there has never been one single incident. Q. There are a few of us who want to do the shark dive. Is it possible to do the shark dive together? (in the same group) R. There are a maximum of 5 people in each group. So when you book your shark dive, make sure you are all in the same group. This may require booking 2-3 weeks in advance. Q. When can I do a shark Dive at UnderWater World? R. Shark dives are generally conducted daily in the afternoons but conditions do apply. Q. How do I book a Shark Dive? R. You can phone (07) 5444 8595 to book a Shark Dive. To assist us with prompt service, could you please have a date in mind that you wish to dive. Q. How do I pay for the Shark Dive? R. Full-Payment is required at time of booking to secure your spot. This can be done using a credit card over the phone, or by posting a cheque or money order. You can also email info@scubaworld.com.au your credit card details (Name on card, number, expirer date). Make sure you include in your email the day you wish to dive, number of people booking, and whether they are certified or non-divers. Q. Can I purchase a shark dive gift voucher? R. Yes, you sure can!! They cost $225 for non-certified divers and $195 for divers. The advantage of gift vouchers is that you don't need to decide on a date. The vouchers will be valid for 3 months from date of issue! Q. How far in advance do I need to book the Shark Dive? R. Generally 2-3 days in advance for dives during the week. 1 week in advance for Weekends, and 2-3 weeks in advance during holiday periods. Q. How long will the shark dive take? R. You should allow about 1hour 30mins for the shark dive. This time is broken up by 15mins gearing up period, 20-30min scuba lesson(non-divers only), 30mins in the shark tank, and 10mins getting changed. Q. Where does the Shark Dive take place? R. The shark dive is done in the Underwater World oceanarium. The tank is 40 meters long, 25 meters wide and 3 meters deep. Q. Can I get my photo taken in the shark oceanarium? R. Yes, you sure can!! Our instructor takes a digital camera into the tank and will try to get a photo of you, with a shark in the background. After completing the dive you will be able to view the images and have the option of purchasing them. Q. What should I bring? R. - Swimming costume and towel Q. Can my friends watch me dive? R. Friends and family can watch from the safety of the viewing tunnel and wave, blow kisses and take photographs. Q. Are there change rooms? R. Change rooms, personal storage areas and shower facilities are available. Q. (Women only) Can I dive with the sharks during my menstrual cycle? R.
